Portfolio

Summary:

The goal was to create a knowledge base, but write it for a user with some relevant knowledge on the topic. I chose to write for Mac users looking to learn Windows because of the casual Mac users in my life who struggle when they use Windows.

Format:

  • Knowledge base

Production Tools:

  • Confluence

  • Adobe Photoshop

Knowledge Base - Mac to Windows Users

Summary:

The goal was to write a technical document that required a large number of specific steps. I chose disassembling an Xbox Series Controller because it’s something I’m familiar with, it requires multiple tools, and each step has a clear visual change.

Format:

  • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Production Tools:

  • Affinity Photo

  • LibreOffice (Writer Document)

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) - Xbox Series Controller Disassembly

Summary:

The goal was to create a technical document with extreme limitations. I chose a product manual for a fictional dedicated media player because a product manual would limit the colors I could use (black, white, and gray) and the size of the document would need to fit in the box for the product (7 cm x 12 cm).

Format:

  • Product Manual

Production Tools:

  • Affinity Photo

  • Affinity Publisher

Product Manual - Media Player

Summary:

The goal was to create a job aid for my dad to help him navigate the inputs on his TV. He has been using a handwritten note card to remember which inputs on the TV pointed to which device, so I created a document that was easier for him to read.

Format:

  • Job aid

Production Tools:

  • Affinity Designer

  • Affinity Publisher
